Frequently asked interior design questions
How do I work with an interior designer, I’ve never worked with one before?
There is an easy design process that I guide you through. This makes sure that I meet all your needs.
First you discuss what your style, budget and timescales are. You tell me about your likes an dislikes and a bit about your lifestyle. You decide which package you will need from me.
Next I put together a floor plan of your existing space and a design plan in CAD. I start to order samples and collect images of furniture, fabrics and key pieces for you.
I create a moodboard to communicate the overall look and feel of your design scheme together. This gives you the colour scheme, style of furniture and overall look and feel that would work best for you. I may also produce sketches or 3D visuals to give you an idea of the space in 3D.
You just need to give any feedback on the moodboard and any areas of the style or design that you may feel is needed to move it forward.
If you are on the Silver package or above I then create a final CAD concept floorplan (looking from above to the floor) to scale for you in detail. Depending on the level of service you pick I may source all of some of the finishes and furniture, soft furnishings, lighting, accessories and artwork for your scheme.
We then agree the scheme as “signed off” before I develop it into a full design scheme with for your builders to implement.
Which Package is best for me?
Some people only need the basic level of help with a mood board for the colour scheme and overall look . Combine this with a scaled plan so they know their furniture will actually fit into the room. Lastly that there is enough space around it too.
This is suited to the interior design enthusiast who is confident at sourcing everything themselves. It’s also for you if you are happy communicating in detail with your builder and know that you will get what you want.
If you have my Gold VIP package you will also get “elevational” wall CAD drawings (looking directly at the wall). These show details of finishes and the building structure. This may include items such as windows, blinds, tile, paint, electric points, IT points and position of fixtures and fittings, artwork.
Particularly useful on lager projects where you are remodelling and removing walls. This gives your building team an exact set of scaled drawings. Drawings also ensure that your approved design is built the way you want.
What if I don’t like what you choose for me?
My job is to design a scheme that you like. If there is a piece of furniture or a colour that you don’t like in the initial scheme then I go and change it and find what suits you better.
There is no extra charge for this it’s part of my fixed fee approach. You can change your mind until the design is approved by you. This is for as long as you are on the programme (there is no time limit).
